Special election set for Town of Richton’s alderman’s position

Staff Reports
__________

Mayor Michael W. Ruffin and the Richton Board of Aldermen announced last week they have set Feb. 18 as the date for a special election to fill a vacant seat on the town’s governing body.

Board members made the decision at their meeting on Jan. 7. The election is being held to fill the post vacated by Larry Wilson, who left municipal government to become the Chancery Clerk of Perry County. Wilson was elected to that post this past November and took office at the end of December.

The qualifying deadline is January 29 at 5 p.m. Any resident with an interest in running for the position should contact Town Hall for additional information.
