Gloria Lynelle Corley Jones – Hattiesburg

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Richton for Gloria Lynelle Corley Jones, 90, of Hattiesburg, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020.
Corley was born to Edward and Anita Brannan Corley Nov. 4, 1929 in Hattiesburg. She was a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a charter member of Kappa Delta Sorority. After marrying, Lynelle moved to Richton where she was an active member of Richton United Methodist Church from 1950 to 1963, and served as president of the Richton Women’s Club and started a girl scout troop. Upon returning to Hattiesburg, she served as den leader of three different cub scout groups and was a girl scout leader. For nine years, while living in Jackson, she was an active member of Galloway United Methodist Church and president of the Brook Garden Club. Once they returned to Hattiesburg, Jones served as president for many different clubs including: The Velida Club, Four Seasons Garden Club and Pine Burr Club. She enjoyed her time with her precious coffee group friends where they shared camaraderie and discussed community events, sometimes before they even happened.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, I. Tom Jones, II; and her brother, Ed Corley.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Jeff (Dawn) Jones, Stennis (Kasey) Jones and Janie (Peter) Kamp, all of Hattiesburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Gai Corley of Ocean Springs; many cousins; and numerous friends.
Visitation was set for Thursday, Jan. 23, from 12 p.m. -2 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, with the service immediately following. Jones will be buried beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund or Edwards Street Fellowship.
