The Richton H.S. Lady Rebels
From Staff Reports
Richton High School piled up 22 runs at Hollandale on Monday and sophomore pitcher Haley Tucker tossed a 4-inning no-hitter as the Lady Rebels blew past homestanding Simmons in the first game of the teams’ second round softball playoff matchup.
Senior Taylea Walley’s inside-the-park home run drove in three runs and capped an 8-run first inning for Richton. Walley was 3-of-4 at the plate with the homer, a triple, four RBIs and a run scored, but wasn’t the top producer for the Lady Rebels. Freshman McKenzie Dykes finished 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, six RBIs and two runs scored to claim that honor.
Tucker was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Juniors Kristlyn Fulmer and Kassie Favre had two RBIs apiece, while their classmate Brooke Greenway drove in three runs and scored two. Senior Dacota Prine and sophomore Nautia Jenkins led their team in runs scored with four apiece.
Tucker faced 16 batters, walking three and hitting another for the Lady Blue Devils’ only baserunners of the night. Otherwise she was dominating, striking out 10 batters to shut down Simmons on their home field.
Game two of the series is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Richton. Game three, if needed, will follow game two.
