Pictured here was a prominent shopping stop in Richton, where fertilizer, feed, other farming items, hardware, groceries and clothing could be purchased. To the left of the building, short wood was unloaded and peeled before being loaded on flat cars to be shipped by rail to the Masonite Corp. in Laurel. The area was knee deep in pine bark. Can you name the business and describe its location?
LAST WEEK’S ANSWER… The ladies in the photo are (L-R, with maiden names) Peggy Hodges, Betty Walley, Shirley Phillips, Thelma Magee, Yvonne Burnette, Ann Ingram, Linda Sue Henderson, Taffy Hinton and Pat Carey. Congratulations to Alma Bush for identifying the group, which she said twice appeared on a talent show of a Jackson TV station from 1954-1956.
Each week, a photograph will be shown and a question or two will be asked. A contribution to the Olga Clifton Scholarship fund will be made in name of the person best answering the question. The scholarship is offered to a graduating senior from Richton that will be attending Jones College. Congratulations to Mrs. Bush, whose name is now listed among the scholarship’s supporters.
