Richton, New Augusta inact new ordinances
From Staff Reports
The Town of New Augusta and the Town of Richton have both adopted new ordinances, which will go into effect in about 30 days.
The Town of New Augusta’s board voted on a leash law ordinance as well as an open container ordinance. An official at New Augusta’s City Hall said there have been no recent incidents to spur the new ordinances, rather the installation of a new board as well as a new police chief prompted a review of town ordinances, where no ordinances were found on the two matters. The adoption of both ordinances have the safety and well-being of town residents and visitors.
Richton’s leaders adopted a new ordinance pertaining to fines and penalties for misdemeanor offenses committed inside town limits.
