Special to The Dispatch
Hello everyone, for those of you that I haven’t been able to get out and meet, my name is Jacob Garner.
I’m Running for Sheriff of Perry County and have lived here for 47 years. Just like small towns and counties all over our state we have a problem with illegal narcotics. Drugs and all other criminal activity are almost always linked. Most property crimes that occur are related to people who are addicted to some type of narcotics. My plan as sheriff is to train a team to arrest those who are distributing illegal narcotics, and to get those who have problems with addiction the help they need. Most of the time people fighting addiction need help/rehab not prison.
My team will work with state and federal agencies and use all available resources to deter all types of criminal activity. We will also work close with our city leaders, police officers in Richton, Beaumont, New Augusta and all first responders and volunteer firefighters. Working together with these agencies will ensure that Perry County benefits from all its law enforcement officers in our cities and in the county. The best deterrent of any type of criminal activity is officer presence.
My deputies will be seen in our neighborhoods and on our streets all over Perry County day and night. When our citizens call and need an officer my deputies will be dispatched and will respond. Upon their arrival they will take your call serious while treating everyone involved with courtesy and respect, even when enforcement action is required.
This type of policing can be done while always keeping safety for officers and everyone involved the top priority.
As your Sheriff, I will use my years of law enforcement experience and business experience to do more to benefit Perry County with the budget we are given.
I am so thankful for all the support that has been shown and I humbly ask for your vote on August 8th for Perry County Sheriff. Thank you and God Bless.
